I just read that Arlen Specter, liberal Republican senator from Pennsylvania, who just HAPPENS to be facing a tough primary fight from a REAL Republican that he narrowly defeated in the last primary, has announced he is switching to the democratic party.
While this is a bad thing due to the fact that the democrats now have a filibuster proof senate, overall I feel this is for the best. Senator Specter voted with democrats so many times, he could not be counted on in a filibuster anyway. I personally think it would have been better for the Republican party to have shown him the door a long time ago, instead of waiting for HIM to leave, along with other similar RINO rubbish, such as Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe.
Hopefully, this is just the beginning of the house cleaning that needs to be done that will lead to conservatives finally regaining control of the Republican party.

I found your 100 Million, Mr. President...
On the same day that Obama challenged his cabinet to 'cut $100 million in expenses' in the next 90 days, it was announced that the State of Illinois would receive an additional $100 million from the federal government for its unemployment insurance program.
Supposedly, Illinois will receive the extra money because it "allows more people to qualify for unemployment benefits than many other states do"
I am sure glad to see Obama cutting spending, and making the spending cuts last...

Obama's BFF

Given Obama's views, and friendships in his personal life, I know this should not surprise me at all, but still, actually seeing these photos of Obama with Hugo Chavez of Venezuela sickens me. I am curious to see the response these photos will get (if any) with Obama supporters. Of course, this assumes that the mainstream media in this country will not go out of its way to cover these photos up...
One only has to look at the body language in these photos to see this was more than a simple, polite acknowledgment of a foreign leader. Surely, 'mainstream' democrats can admit that America's interests abroad are not served by a president who is obviously willing to be so chummy with a hardcore socialist and American enemy.

St. Louis Tea Party
Well, the St. Louis tea party was excellent. The speakers were all very good and some of the signs were hilarious to read. The crowd size was estimated while we were there at between 6000-7000, with later estimates putting it as high as 10,000.
One thing for sure...It was very refreshing to be in a group this large of like-minded people!
Here are some pictures and random video clips I took at the event. The overhead photos are from the Gateway Pundit blog. To view the pictures in several different sizes, click them, then select the 'All Sizes' button.

On the way to St. Louis Tea Party!
I am getting ready to leave to attend the tea party at St. Louis this evening. Hopefully, I will have pictures and video from the event here by tomorrow.

Something different...
I must admit, getting up everyday and watching our country being slowly torn apart from the top down is becoming very depressing. I guess that is why this story about a man on his way to the hospital for a liver transplant being aided by state troopers and snow plow operators, kind of resonated with me...
I find it somehow refreshing in this 'cradle-to-the grave, government will take care of everything' country we find ourselves in to read about Americans doing what Americans have always done best, coming to each others aid in a time of need...

When is a bow not a bow?
Apparently, The White House is denying that the now famous bow by Obama to King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia ever took place. According to their explanation, Obama was simply bending over to grasp the king's hand with two hands because he was taller than the king.
Kind of sound vaguely 'Clintonesque' to me, but you be the judge....Notice how Obama clearly does not offer his second hand until after the bow...

SURPRISE! Obama wants to play God
According to this article from A.P., the Obama administration thinks that global warming is so serious, that they are now looking into some radical methods to cool the Earth's air, including 'shooting' pollution particles into the upper atmosphere to reflect the sun's rays.
If this does not sound like a recipe for some extreme unintended consequences, then I don't know what does...
