I have had a very interesting email exchange over the past few days from a liberal named 'Leesa' who runs a blog that might as well be called 'The Daily Worker Online'. The correspondence started when she decided to take me to task for some comments I had posted to her blog that she deemed unfriendly. I guess she had a point, after all, liberals are known for their friendly discourse when it comes to the issues....
In any case, apparently I have became quite the topic of discussion at Leesa's blog, and amongst her friends. While being entertained by her latest post concerning me, I came across this part directed at me:
"In fact, just to let you know... I HOPE Obama makes the U.S. a little MORE socialist.... spread the wealth a little and provide better health care for the folks in America... How's that for you!"
Now keep in mind that Leesa informed me during our correspondence that she had 'a very good education' when I questioned this during our emails. In fact, she informed me that she is a TEACHER, and has worked as an elementary school teacher in the past. To which I would ask, with statements such as above posted BY A TEACHER, is it any wonder our schools are turning out indoctrinated kids who know nothing about their history and the dangers of socialism?
But since 'Leesa' has enjoyed addressing me directly on her blog, I feel I should respond to her post directly...
Leesa, you say we should spread the wealth a little...well, Leesa, if you would like a bigger share of the wealth, then perhaps you should stop waiting for the government to take from someone what is NOT yours and give it to you, and get off your pot-smoking, tree-hugging, hippie rear-end and EARN it. This, Leesa, is AMERICA. Your success or failure has NEVER been guaranteed here, but has always been right there for the taking for those who choose to WORK for it, a fact that AS A TEACHER, I would have hoped you understood. In fact, the one positive thing I can say about Obama, is that his election actually proves this fact. I mean, a drug using, America hating, communist sympathizing liberal just got elected president....Only in America....
As for health care...When you have to wait two months to see a doctor for a common cold, come talk to me about it then. By the way, where will the rest of the world go for healthcare once we socialize our system?
Now for another pearl of wisdom from Leesa's blog:
"And, yes, I was not proud at ALL to call myself an American during 8 years of Bush's TERRIBLE leadership (lack of, therein). Very ashamed, in fact."
Leesa, while I am very unhappy with the election of Obama, I will NEVER be ashamed to call myself an American, no matter WHERE I am or WHO is president. This is the nation that gave over 400,000 lives during World War II so others could enjoy the same freedoms we have. This is the nation that rebuilt Europe, including our former enemies, AFTER World War II. This is the nation that bankrupted the Soviet Union, and allowed those TRAPPED in socialism behind a wall erected by THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT, to experience freedom after 40 years...
While America has certainly made mistakes in the world, no other nation has EVER risen to the needs of others as we have. Ronald Reagan described it best when he talked of our being a 'shining city on a hill.' Evidently, Leesa, you have been too busy whining about how you have not received 'your fair share', to realize how blessed you are to have been born in a nation such as this. No Leesa, too many of us has paid the ultimate price to defend our freedoms, and thus THEY have EARNED our right to be proud. I would never tarnish their memory, or cheapen their actions by saying I was not proud of being an American.
Leesa, our forefathers designed a system of government for us so perfect, it almost boggles the mind. Instead, you would throw out this wonderful experiment in liberty for a system that has failed everywhere it has been tried, and has led to the oppression of millions over the years. The fact that there are so many like you is scary. The fact that you are a teacher who SHOULD know our history, but instead have most likely been passing your world view on to our children is terrifying...

Hi Lonnie,
Thanks for featuring me on your post... It's very thoughtful and insightful and I must admit, you are right... I know we don't see eye to eye and that I didn't speak nicely about you in the email to my step dad... but, I do see your point...
Thanks again for having me as the focual point of your article.
Take good care, Leesa
A system so mind-boggling, so perfect, that Obama was able to get elected!
Your post actually gave me a good laugh this evening. For a moment there, I thought I was reading some excellent satire. But I guess not.
I stand by what I said. Our system was designed by the founders as close to perfect as I can personally imagine. They did not design a system where the citizens would be unable to make changes.
The one flaw I can see, I am sure the founders assumed the voters would make wise, informed decisions, but given the current state of our education system & the fact that liberalism is always an 'easy answer' for people that do not think things through, we see what we have wound up with...
This is the risk we take, however, and I would not trade our system for one with no choice. I only hope that the voters can be educated to the realities of liberalism before we LOSE the ability to choose in the future...
Yeah, we could've "wound up" with the ancient guy who divorced his last wife while she was BATTLING CANCER-who's so borderline Alzheimers he doesn't even know how many properties he owns! Then there's his bimbo barbie running mate with those freakish-named offspring Trig, Track, Bristol, I forget the rest-these freaks breed like rabbits.
Even a "pot-smoking, tree-hugging hippie" would never damage a kid for life by naming a kid like that. (Which probably explains the knocked-up teenager)
Oh and let's not forget that teen Bristol's babydaddy's momma was reported to have been arrested in connection with a prescription drug deal...shocking. Not!
Ah...the party of "family values!" What a bunch of hypocrites.
If you can't handle four years of President Obama like we had to endure eight years of two stolen elections, Mexico's right next door! Adios!
Lets see....'damage a kid for life' by giving them an unusual name...or KILL THEM. WOW what a comparison! You must be some kind of genius!
Let me define hypocrite for you, since you obviously have NO CLUE as to its meaning... If Sarah Palin had decided to abort her downs syndrome baby, then told others not to, or forced her teenage daughter to have an abortion, while claiming to be pro-life, then THAT would be hypocritical. Sarah Palin and her family are the ULTIMATE example of practicing what you preach, and taking responsibility for your actions. I swear, do any of you liberals EVER think before you make statements such as this and think you are SO clever? Of course, that is a rhetorical question. It has been obvious for years that liberals do not think, only 'feel.'
I know Sarah Palin terrifies you liberals, but come on...the MOTHER of Sarah Palin's daughter's fiance is arrested, and this somehow reflects on Sarah Palin and her immediate family?? How many of us don't have SOMEONE in our family that has been in trouble with the law? ESPECIALLY if were going to include in-laws (and FUTURE in-laws AT THAT).
No, attacks such as this are simply because Sarah Palin is a woman politician who DARES to be pro-life and succeeded without following the liberal playbook. For this reason, she TERRIFIES liberals, and they will throw ANYTHING they can find at her in the hopes something will finally stick.
I kind of understand, she disproves everything you were taught to believe. For some reason, it just seems to make so many of you ANGRY that she dared to decide to let a baby actually live. I'm sure in your mind, she is not fit to govern since she did not take the 'righteous route', terminate the pregnancy (What possible good could come from a downs syndrome baby, after all?), and set herself up as a role model for oppressed women everywhere with the 'burden' of children.
Perhaps she could have even figured out a way to have gotten the taxpayers to pay for it. If she had ONLY done this, I am quite sure she would be quite the hero to all of you...
As for Mccain, I have NEVER said I was happy with him as my choice. In fact, I have said many times this is the first year I have voted for a democrat for president, and I am only half joking. It is the card we were dealt. It was truly a case of voting for the lesser of two evils, except in this case, one of the 'evils' was PURE.
Freakish name...hmm...Since you went there, I have one for you... How about 'Barack Hussein Obama'?
As for stolen elections...I wouldn't know anything about that. Perhaps you should talk to Al Franken. I hear he is an expert.
Did I miss something here?
"As for Mccain, I have NEVER said I was happy with him as my choice. In fact, I have said many times this is the first year I have voted for a democrat for president, and I am only half joking."
Did you actually vote Dem this year? I am not sure if you are being sarcastic here.
Also, many women CHOOSE to keep their babies, knowing full well that they will be born with some type of disability (I'm not talking at all about parents who have NO idea their child will have a disability either at birth or after that...) Sarah Palin happened to be one of those mom's who knew that her baby would be born with Trisomy 21, and because of her own values, chose to have her baby... I have known many, many parents who have made this same choice was different types of disabilities, as well. It doesn't make me at all angry that she decided to have her baby, why would it make me or anyone angry? It's her decision, not anyone else's. And, mind you... there is nothing wrong with having a child with a disability, I get the idea that you think it's wrong or that other people think it's wrong to have a child with a disability. Let me tell you, it's NOT an easy job to raise a child, a healthy one, and raising a child with a disability is even more challenging, but in no way should anyone think that it's wrong to knowingly bring a disabled child into this world.
That's all for now.. Just wanted to jump back into the discussion.
I don't have anything to offer for names, because I'm into names that are odd... but one thing...
Are you saying that the name Hussein is bad? Just because it's the name of one bad person? Also, names usually have meanings attached to them... For instance..
The boy's name Hussein \hu(s)-sein\ is pronounced hoo-SAYN. It is of Arabic origin, and its meaning is "good; small handsome one". And the word Isa in Arabic means, Jesus...
he boy's name Jesus \j(e)-sus\ is pronounced JEE-zus, hay-SOOS. It is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "the Lord is salvation". Short form of Joshua, from the Hebrew name Jehoshua. The name of the biblical Christ is very frequently used as a given name in Hispanic cultures.
Happy New Year to you...
Well, I am surprised that I have to explain myself, but here goes...I was replying to another 'Anonymous' post that MADE FUN of the names of Sarah Palin's children. I was most definitely being sarcastic for the entire post. It should be very clear that I am pro-life above all, and feel that Sarah Palin should be treated as a hero for making the decision she did regarding her baby. It shows me that she keeps true to her values, even when tested.
I was trying to make the point that this woman is SO HATED by the left, and it honestly seems to me that it all stems from the fact that she did not have an abortion. For some reason, it seems to me that people who are radically pro-choice get violently angry if someone CHOOSES to keep their baby.
As with the voting democrat...Again, sarcasm...It SHOULD be obvious to most that with his voting record, and the fact that he seems to 'backstab' Republicans every chance he gets, John Mccain was more of a MAINSTREAM democrat than Obama ever was. He definitely would not have been my choice to be the nominee, but since he was, and I sure wasn't going to vote Obama, I felt like I had to vote for a 'democrat.'
As for Obama's name. Again, please look at the context I was using. I was replying to a post of someone who came in here and is low enough to attack Sarah Palin for her choice of names. I figured if this person had a problem with THEIR unusual names, then why not remind them that they evidently had no problem with another.
Did you ever stop to think that maybe Barack Hussein is a name from his African American descent?
Hussein is a common name in many countries, including Africa.
Neither Obama nor Clinton was my first choice.
I haven't heard about Al Franken, but I'm sure it didn't have anything to do with his brother being given Florida's governorship, government contracted electronic voting machines, or "chads".
Oh, I knew abortion would enter the discussion. (Oh joy, and what a surprise!)
Most abortions would not be needed if people would just use some form of birth control, or (heaven forbid!) practice what they preach: abstinence!
Hmm, condoms or a possible abortion later on? Now if I were underage, unwed and sexually active in a society full of STD's, I'd take the condoms/pills.
I know you're just so disappointed to hear that none of my family is or ever has been arrested, had an abortion, had multiple marriages, dressed in drag, or toe-tapped to underage boys in airport restrooms.
I personally could care less where his name comes from. You are the one that came here making comments about somebody else's name being strange. It just seemed odd to me that you found their names SO strange, but said nothing about your presidential choice's name. Seems to me you also said something in that post about hypocrisy...
I find it so interesting that I have yet to talk to a liberal that don't get all worked up if you mention Obama's full name. It almost seems to me that you all have some kind of strange inner fear of him that hearing his name somehow stirs...I am not sure why liberals would be SO defensive about it otherwise.
I am not sure I would want to know who your FIRST choice for president was. Hugo Chavez perhaps?
I LOVE hearing the same broken record from liberals about 'stolen elections.' I have been watching liberals try to steal elections for as long as I can remember. A liberal's motto for an election seems to be, if you don't win the first time, just keep counting the votes until you do. How stupid do you all think we are with your continuing ability to 'find' votes after an election? This is exactly what is going on in Minnesota now, and what was attempted in Florida, until the Supreme Court did the right thing.
You gripe because I brought up abortion? You came in here saying Sarah Palin had somehow 'scarred her kids' because she gave them an unusual name. Yet during the election, I cannot count how many liberals I heard implying that Sarah Palin should have aborted her downs syndrome baby, and that she was somehow being selfish because she hadn't. Don't believe me? Read this: http://tinyurl.com/4nymp6
Don't jump on me since I pointed out the obvious idiocy of criticizing her over her choice of name, when she COULD have killed the baby instead. Seems to me like this would have been worse than LIVING with an unusual name.
Abortions would not be 'needed' if people used birth control? Excuse me, but an abortion is NEVER 'needed' (I know you can't wait to jump on me about this statement over the 'life of the mother' argument, but just to be clear, that is NOT what I mean)
Abortion is simply one more 'tool' to allow people to run from their responsibilities.
Your post actually illustrates a point I like to make often. It is RARELY Conservatives who expect perfection out of people. All we expect is for you to stand by your values, and take responsibility for your actions, even if you make a mistake. Liberals, on the other hand, always seem quick to judge, as illustrated by your post. Yes, Sarah Palin's daughter obviously did not practice abstinence. It can be said that she made a mistake. The fact that she still had the courage to do the right thing under the circumstances still reveals a lot about her character, but means nothing to you.
As to NO ONE in your family ever being in trouble with the law, I am sorry, but I simply do not believe you. ESPECIALLY if you want to take it as far as you are willing to with Sarah Palin. Perhaps I am wrong. After all, we can't all be as perfect as you liberals.
Dear Blue State Conservative,
You pose an interesting perspective towards laissez-faire economics, however lets be specific here.
1. Leesa would like free healthcare. While you find this concept too socialist or treehugging, I urge you to think of it from another angle.
More than 50% of businesses in the USA refer to themselves as "small". Small Businesses cannot afford to provide benefits to employees relative to the Blue Chips because of costs or lack of access. This one factor alone actually significantly weakens human capital competition because the small business can never compete with larger firms on benefits from sheer actuary calculations, thus top talent chooses the latter over the former. If the actuary table were derived from a single healtcare funnel, each firm would pay the same rate regardless of size, which would place all firms on equal footing to attract talent.
Direct comparison - Look at London's City or Switzerland's Zurich (US equivalent to Wall Street). Small cap firms are just as strong in terms of talent, and in fact considered stronger in many cases. The US is applying a 20th century concept of "pay your way" to 21st century system, especially the one's who think national healthcare comes from their pockets.
2. The US comes to the aid of other nations more than any other nation in history. Actually, that would be the British Empire. By my calculation they have 711 years on the USA on that front. But agreed, in the 20th century the US has been very active. However, a century of activity need not define a nation, especially one as young as the United States.
At this point, we have paved the way for global financial crisis (driven by over-extended personal, corporate and government debt - Yes, China OWNS most of our treasury debt). I trust that the US will change its course and return to a healthy footing globally, but over-confident, isolationist banter without strong due diligence of the ovelapping issues certainly does not invoke confidence.
An anecdote in closing:
Joe-American in Smalltown USA: "Goddmanit, why don't them spanish speak English, its America."
Joe-American on holiday in France: "Goddmanit, don't anybody speak English, they are rude."
Irony never leads a nation to greatness.
Happy 2009,

FREE healthcare...what an oxymoron that is...
I actually OWN a small business. I have since 1994. So small, in fact, that it is JUST me. I would love to hire people, which would allow for more growth, but have seen FIRST HAND, the cost of government regulation of business, and how much more I would face IF I did hire people. I have chosen to keep my business a 'sole-proprietorship' because of this. The likelihood that the coming government-run health care system will lead to much more expensive government mandates for small businesses will likely mean that this will stay the case for me for quite some time...I am sure there are MANY businesses in the same situation as I am, and many more that will be forced to make hard choices regarding existing employees if such a thing DOES come to pass. We may get a government run health care system, but to be sure, the cost will be great, and not JUST in the quality of our care...
Anyone should be able to understand that it is government OVER regulation, with our litagation-happy society a close second, that has lead to the explosion of health care costs. If people want lower health care costs, then getting government OUT as much as possible followed by meaningful tort reform would go a long way toward this goal.
Anyone who can look at the programs the government DOES run, social security (how is that doing lately?), the VA medical system (THIS is what we want for everyone??), or anything else, and believe that it will some how be different when the government runs our health care system is deluding themselves...
I am not sure what point your trying to make with your 'British Empire' comment. I am sure that at least from the 20th century forward, no nation can match the U.S. when it comes to sacrifices made for others. This would not necessarily mean JUST governmental action...Just look at the response from U.S. citizens to private charities eveytime there is a natural disaster somewhere in the world.
Liberals always feel the need to 'apologize' for America, and are quick to disown it entirely when its politically convenient, or to 'fit in' wherever they are. My point was that Americans have EARNED the right to be proud of their nation, no matter who is president, or whatever mistakes our country may have made in the past. I am definitely NOT an isolationist, but if my expressing pride in my country, or support for the policies of our government somehow 'offends' somebody somewhere else, then in all honesty, I really do not care...
