I found this article over at 'American Thinker' very interesting, which makes the case for boycotting GM and Chrysler, since they have now been effectively 'socialized' by the Obama administration.
I became aware of this article today after listening to Rush Limbaugh, who was denying a media report that he was behind a call for just such a boycott. In fact, he went out of his way to say that a boycott was something he would NOT support.
This is one of the VERY few times I have found myself in disagreement with Rush. I wish Rush, or a conservative leader of his caliber WOULD promote just such a boycott... Having purchased a new vehicle myself this past weekend, I had already came to the decision on my own that, despite the fact that there ARE some excellent deals to be had right now, there is NO way I will be purchasing a GM or Chrysler vehicle anytime in the foreseeable future....
As long as the government continues to have any stake in these companies, or the UAW for that matter, with their new found ownership stake, so obviously stolen and 'gifted' to them by Obama as a thanks for their support, I can not, in good conscience, and as a strong believer in free market capitalism, purchase one...
I sincerely hope that American consumers do not simply 'close their eyes' to the unbelievably UN-AMERICAN series of events that have transpired over the past few months. To ignore the fact that two iconic American companies have been nationalized as if we were living in the old Soviet Union or Venezuela, and simply return to 'business as usual' with them will only make things WORSE in the long run, I am afraid...
Official 'boycott' or not, I fear that if we do not 'vote with our pocketbook', and express our disgust with all this by purchasing from other companies (while we still can), we will only embolden the Obama administration, and the next round of nationalizations could make what is happening now pale in comparison....

It's funny. I came to the same conclussion. I just can't support this overtake of our private companies. This hurts me seeing that my dad worked for GM for 33 years.
It is un-american. Most large corporations are based overseas now and it would hurt them if we quit buying from China and other countries. You don't see China being a protectionist. For instance, they need Iran's oil so they are helping with the acquisition of nuclear parts.
We can't have protectionism. Besides cutting out American workers will help push wages down. If you get rid of the slugs makeing $15 an hour, a company could hire 3 people at minimum wage.
